Landmark Tremé Bar Goes Smoke-Free (For Just One Night) and On the Air

Every Wednesday evening, the venerable Tremé Brass Band, led by snare drummer Benny Jones and the irrepressible bass drummer “Uncle” Lionel Batiste hold court at the Candlelight Lounge in the heart of the Tremé musical district.  Tonight, January 20, 2010, the bar goes smoke free and the show will be broadcast on WWOZ- 90.7 FM.  The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living is sponsoring a series of 12 live broadcasts aimed at providing smoke-free environments for live music fans, musicians, and service staff.  The music begins at 10 PM at 925 N. Robertson Street.
