Thursday, September 16, 2010- I just love it when new bands pop up on the scene, especially if they are essentially a super group.  Tonight, Junk Shot (named ostensibly about one of the techniques BP used to try to stop the gusher in the gulf) takes the stage at Chickie Wah Wah.  The band features Kirk Joseph (Dirty Dozen Brass Band) on sousaphone, Doug Garrison (Iguanas and numerous other bands) on drums, Mark McGrain (eponymous projects and numerous other bands) on trombone and Tom Fitzpatrick (Walter “Wolfman” Washington and numerous other bands) on saxophone.  The show is early- 8 PM until 11 PM.  (Photo of Kirk Joseph by Skip Bolen)
