Tuesday- October 12, 2010- this evening the pianist and educator is presenting a jazz reduction of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s classic opera.  The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra commissioned the reworking and Atkins and band will perform excerpts tonight at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse in the Royal Sonesta Hotel at 8:00 PM.   The band features Delfeayo Marsalis on trombone, Derek Douget on tenor and soprano saxophones, Neal Caine on bass, and Jason Marsalis on drums.
