New Orleans Jazz Fest Poster artist Bill Hemmerling passed away at age 66 on Monday, June 15th. A Louisiana folk artist, Bill Hemmerling created the Official 2005 Jazz & Heritage Festival Poster. Entitled “The Birth of Jazz,” it depicted legendary musician Buddy Bolden and his band. Famous “Blue Dog” artist George Rodrigue said “Hemmerling is a pure artist. He paints from his heart, from his soul, he really paints what he feels.” Arrangements are still pending.
